Burning Bright

I could say this piece is about the deep existential dread experienced by one facing their own terrifying inadequacies and the realization that nature can only be resisted up to a point. But truthfully I just wanted to draw something with lots of vertical lines.

I created this using Prismacolor Premier Brush Fine Art Markers($7) and BIC ballpoint pens ($0.10). Let me hereby acknowledge that my drawings may never advance beyond an ambitious doodle aesthetic due to my loyalty to cheap BIC ballpoints.

Just for fun, here's a literary criticism of William Blake's The Tiger that I wrote/drew approximately one million years ago when I was in high school.

On a side note, don't you hate it when you step back to admire your newly completed work, find it disconcertingly familiar, and only then realize where the inspiration came from?

Well, there are worse things.
